It's going to be a great year.
Weather warm about 64 and sunny, night low of 42. Suits us compared to a bitter cold back in Ontario, Canada.
This is the longest we have ever been away from our home on wheels. Three months! We have missed it. All kinds of questions - did it survive ok? Did it stay warm enough since we did not winterize it, did the warehouse keep it plugged in to power, did the water stay in the toilet bowl...... Yes that happened last year with the toilet. The water evaporated and we had to have a new seal put in. Billy definitely thinks of these things when we are away from our RV.
We stored it at River City Indoor RV & Boat Storage in Sacramento. We had checked the good reviews and last October when we left and we had a good feeling about the owner Bob Wilner - the place was super clean and in a good area . 24/7 surveillance. We also checked the average temperatures for Sacramento since we do not like to leave it where it can freeze night after night. We look to leave it where the temps are about mid 30's at the lowest, 40's even better. River City RV gave us a ride to the airport (which was 14 miles away) last October and we were hoping they would come and get us today. A quick phone call and we were all set - Bob's guys were moving our rig out - it started right up. Oops wait a minute - Second phone call to delay us; as the motor home in front of ours would not start. Couple hours later Bob called and they were on the way to pick us up. No harm done as we had come in very late the night before via Southwest Airlines and we had a hotel room. It was about 4 am our time Jan 7 when we lay our heads on the pillows. We had kept this pickup day open for a campground on Interstate 5 and played it by ear as to how far we might get and plan B was to move to the campground in Sacramento if need be. Billy felt like going about a hundred miles south and park before dark. So about 2 pm and we were on our way. It felt weird and also weird in a good way to be on the road again.
After 120 miles there was a KOA Los Banos West that was the right spot for an overnighter.
Travelling the freeway we noticed that the landscape was much greener than last fall. Beautiful green hills and miles of fruit trees followed the California Aquaduct system near San Luis Reservoir.
