Taking the back roads,,,, which way do we go? |
March 2/2018 Weather 74, low 50. Low humidity, low wind. Time to ride. When you talk to your neighbours about eating,,, it is BBQ and Pie. Pie and BBQ. Oh and more BBQ. We give, throw up the white flag, lets get some more BBQ brisket. We meander through some country roads south of Marble Falls and end up in Driftwood. We even like the sound of a place called Driftwood. Nothing fancy again, just lots and lots of picnic tables and open seating at Salt Lick BBQ, serving up meat since 1929.

Heading back west across country we decided to drive thru historic downtown Blanco where the old courthouse, which is now the visitor center was used in the movie remake of True Grit.

The historic Blanco town square has antique shops, pottery, bbq, and textiles.....And quick peak in the Uptown Blanco Textile Studio uncovered a gorgeous quilt shop! The interior of an old western building had been salvaged. Floors and walls taken back to the wood and old lighting and cabinets. Beautifully redone.
