On the Move

April 3/ 2015  Weather in Albuquerque, New Mexico was the coldest day we have had since January; even though the sun shone all day.  High of 65 and breezy with a low of 40.

Peaceful night - Good Friday
It's Good Friday so we thought maybe it would be a day to stay in one spot; nothing would be surely open if in the event we had any need to stop for fuel or trouble.  Well that was not the case.   Lots of traffic was going by and we checked at the park office.  It was a regular work day????  We thought it had to be a statutory holiday.  We did go get a bag of groceries and noticed all business and industries were working.  Sad really, in Ontario it is always a stat holiday.   But it was a nice peaceful day for Billy and Rosey; and we truly feel blessed.   At night when we walked around the park there was the most beautiful moonlit night over the RV Park.
April 4/2015 Saturday Weather about 65 and sunny traveling from ABQ, NM to Amarillo, Texas.  Tonight low in Amarillo 50, windy.  Today the winds were following us for the most part then turning to a south cross wind, 20 to 25 mph.   We planned on being off the road early afternoon to avoid the winds.
entering Oasis RV Resort in Amarillo - do you get the RV in the ground??  Nice Irony
Stopping at  Oasis RV Resort for a one nighter then moving on to Oklahoma City on Easter Sunday.  Originally we were going to stay off the roads Easter Sunday but realized it may not make much difference here in the USA.  We looked at the weather and saw a stormy front moving through the area on Monday so we are opting to travel on Sunday hoping to miss the worst of it.
Cadillac Ranch
Oh and the RV in the ground???   If you have been to Amarillo Texas on Interstate 40 you will remember Cadillac Ranch.  It was invented and built by a group of art-hippies imported from San Francisco. They called themselves The Ant Farm, and their silent partner was Amarillo billionaire Stanley Marsh 3. He wanted a piece of public art that would baffle the locals, and the hippies came up with a tribute to the evolution of the Cadillac tail fin. Ten Caddies were driven into one of Stanley Marsh 3's fields, then half-buried, nose-down, in the dirt (supposedly at the same angle as the Great Pyramid of Giza). They faced west in a line, from the 1949 Club Sedan to the 1963 Sedan de Ville, their tail fins held high for all to see on the empty Texas panhandle.

Vegas Baby

March 7 - 14/2015 Weather unseasonably warm, 10 degrees above normal this week 74 to 80, nights mid 50's.  Stunning !!!  We are lucky again.   The drive from Laughlin to Las Vegas was short about 100 miles, with some elevation climb as the city sits at 2,001 feet above sea level.   We are coming from being on a a slow burner (Laughlin) to the frying pan ( Las Vegas).

Oasis RV Resort Fountain from the Lobby
Oasis RV Resort swimming pool
Our campground is south of The Strip a couple miles - Oasis RV Resort.   It is a huge park, very busy and quite nice.  Where are we?  Look at that outdoor fountain from the lobby with fancy etched glass doors and marble floors .....and a resort swimming pool.  Wow!!!  Hey it's Vegas:)
Welcome to Las Vegas  (Harley Davidson Dealership)
We have never been to Vegas before.   Not kidding.  And "no we haven't just crawled out of a RV cave".   Ha ha.  We don't gamble but there are so many things to do in Vegas we are sure to have a good time.  Drinking, Dining, Shopping, Shows, Attractions, People Watching, Events, Sports, oh yeah Gambling too!   What to do first?   Let's go to the Strip.

Driving and walking down the strip is a treat;  the casinos are incredible pieces of architecture and you never know about the people!
