Donkey's Death - Great Motorcycle Ride

Billy looking out at Mexico Mountain Ranges just in the distance
March 7/16  Weather day 82, night 59.
In Southwest Texas where the Rio Grande cradles a region of mountains and desert we find Big Bend Country.  It is named for the great curve in the Rio Grande.  The land has sparsely changed since the days of Spanish conquistadors and the Apache warriors.   It is a remote region on the edge of the Chihuahuan desert.   The 60 miles of the River Road or El Camino del Rio follows the Rio Grande from Maverick to Presidio; and we are delighted there is no wall as Trump would like to put up.   Such a beautiful drive, remote from civilization on either side of the border.

Presidio, Texas - border crossing just down the street 1/2 a mile
The Mexico/USA border following the center of the river.   It surprised us how little water is in the river.  Apparently the water level is released up north when the powers to be decide to let it go in the spring.
The Rio Grande River, road in USA - river - mountains are Mexico
One of the earlier nicknames of the road was Muerte del Burro, or Donkey's Death.   We found that the road is in very good condition and plenty wide.  Only 1 area was extreme where it rises fiercely to the top of a range then plummets down the other side, twisty and winding as it goes.

We are are on the motorcycle, no problem.  Just a beautiful ride from our RV Park to Presidio for lunch then backtrack same road.  It never seems to surprise us how different the road looks returning on it.
