Olympic National Park

Lunchtime view from cafe patio in Port Townsend
Sept 7, 2014  Another great day 75 and sunny, night 55
From Anacortes we are about 80 miles to Olympic National Park via the ferry over to Port Townsend.   There is a beautiful motorcycle ride on Hurricane Ridge in the Park which is about 20 miles up the mountain range to the top, then back down.   You have to admire the Americans they have the most beautiful scenic roads which are made for that alone - just a scenic ride!!!  That is our kind of day!

While waiting for the ferry we met a fellow dressed like a sailor and we found out he was in a singing group called the ``The Shifty Sailors``.    When we went upstairs in the ferry they were heartily warming up their vocal chords with their sea shantys and entertaining all the riders.  That was so cool!!!!  They were going over to Port Townsend for a Wooden Boat show and then singing the boats out to sea later in the day:)

Olympic National Park has the most extreme climate change from one side of it to the other.
On top of Hurricane Ridge - Is Julie Andrews going to start singing
The west side has a Rainforest that can rain most everyday of the year with over 100 inches of rain per year,  the central area is all mountain peaks with snow and
glaciers, and the east side is almost arid conditions.

For this Biker couple it does not get any better
